Advent, The Mission of Christ, and the Great Commission

• Advent reminds us the most important part of the Christian mission isn’t the Christian, but the _____________.
• Christian mission must flow from and towards worship of the Incarnate One.

John 10:16 and the Hope for World Missions

• Jesus guarantees our eternal ______________.

Eternal Security: Jesus promises that if you belong to Him, you will make it to Heaven.

• “I have other sheep...”
  • Question: How can Jesus have his own sheep before he calls them and they hear and respond in faith?
  • Answer: Jesus’ sheep already belong to the ______________. This is the doctrine of election.
    • The Father ___________ his sheep to the Son. (John 17:6)
    •  The sheep ___________ to the Son because they are given by the Father. (John 6:37)
• “I must bring them also...”
  • Question: How does Jesus bring his sheep to Him?
  • Answer: Jesus brings them by his word. He calls them.

    • And those whom he called heard his voice and followed him. (John 10:4)
    • And to those who followed him, he gave eternal life. (John 17:2)
    • And those to whom he gave eternal life can never be taken from his hand. (John 10:28)
    • And there will be one flock and one shepherd forever. (John 11:51-52).

Evangelistic Success: Jesus promises that his global saving purposes and our mission will be successful.

• We must resist all ethnic _________________.
