1.  A helpless and hopeless situation!
  • Faulty decisions by her husband: Moab?
  • Famine in the land: Even in famine, the land he left was the land God had given him
  • Foreigner in a pagan land:
  • Family is dead: From Bad to worse!!!!
2.  God is working in ways that cannot be seen!
  • Famine is resolved at home: God had given his people food!
  • Naomi sets out on the road for home!
  • Naomi frees her daughters-in law from their commitment to her.
  • Naomi has no more sons to provide for the women.
  • The Lord’s hand is against me! Verse 13
  • Naomi changes her name to Mara! Verse 20 - Mara = "bitterness"
3.  Naomi receives Ruth’s companionship without knowing she has received God’s redemption!
  • The Key to waiting on God’s help?
  • Maintain honest and caring relationships with the people in your life!
  • Resolve to let the Lord establish the Relationship!
~ I will not leave you!
~ I will go with you!
~ I will be with your people!
~ I will worship your God!
~ I will stay for life!

Scripture Reading:  Deuteronomy 6:1-12

Memory Verse:  “Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.” Colossians 3:21
God desires for each generation to experience Him through faith in His promises! This requires that each generation pass the faith on to their children and grand-children.

1.  Seek to understand the Covenant of God! Verses 1-3
  • God made the covenant with conditions!
  • God made the covenant for ALL generations: you, children, grand-children
  • God deserves your fear/respect!
  • You must have faith in the promise/covenant of the LORD/God of your ancestors: verse 3
  • God promises long life: verse 2
  • God will make things go well and allow an increase in the land of bounty: verse 3
2.  Model a Heart for the one true God! Verses 4-6
  • There is ONE true God! Verse 4
~  Unique, like no other thing/god!
          ~  Passion: No other rival
  • God is to be loved in order to be obeyed! Verse 5
~  Completely: With heart, soul, might
          ~  Lord and His Commands
3.  Teach with the goal of leaving an Impression! Verses 7-12
  • Continually! Talk about them continually!
  • Evangelistically! Take them with you into the community! Verses 8-9
  • Identity: They define who you are even when others are not around! Verse 9
  • Humility: Protect your prosperity from the pitfall of pride! Verse 10-12

SO WHAT?

  • What impression have you left on your closest family? What should be done about it?
  • Is there passion in your relationship with God in ways that others who know you would recognize it?
  • Are you taking deliberate steps to pass your faith on to your family? Bible reading, Christian music, Worship, active in ministry/service, prayer, humility, character

Memory Verse:   "We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts." 2 Peter 1:19

Scripture Reading:  Ezekiel 17:22-24
Picture
Picture
1.  God spoke to Ezekiel in an allegory and parable about two eagles.
  • Earthly suffering is an opportunity for strengthening our faith and dependency on Jesus!
  • Earthly suffering is sometimes a judgment upon specific sin, always a result of the world of sin, and our response can bring upon greater judgment. Verses 19-20
2.  Resolution is found in God’s “I Myself”
  • God is self-sufficient, no alliances, no help, no delay
  • God is as sure as His own existence/life!
  • God is sure to act according to His Oath/promise!
  • God Will! Repay, spread His net, execute judgment, take a shoot and plant it, bring down the tall and grow the small,
3.  Resolution is witnessed by the entire world of nation! Verse 24
  • The Nations of the World will be brought low!
  • The Kingdom of God will be raised high!
4.  Resolution will be God’s new Kingdom of Christ
  • It grew from within Israel geographically, spiritually.
  • It would be more than political Israel.
  • Jesus grows from Judah as a son in the lineage of David!
5.  Resolution will be for all Nations for whosoever will come in by faith and enjoy the tree! Verse 23
  • Birds of every kinds will rest in it!
  • Mat 13:31-32 NIV - He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches."
SO WHAT?
  • Invite people into the shade and shelter of the tree in Jesus!
  • Come to Jesus yourself!
  • Watch for God to glorify Himself!
  • Worship Him and none other!

Memory Verse:  “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”  2 Tim. 2:15

Scripture Reading:  Mark 3:20-35
Picture
1.  Jesus’ true claims resisted. Verses 20-22
  • Jesus is disturbing people with His claims of authority. Pharisees, Herodians, family (mother and brothers), scribes
  • Even the crowds who gather to hear him are in some ways problematic.
  • Couldn’t eat for the crowd. V. 20
  • He is out of his mind. V. 21
  • He is possessed by Beelzebul and working under that power. V. 22
2.  Jesus’ true power clarified: Verses 23-30
  • Correcting parables and summary: Kingdom divided, House divided, Satan divided,
  • The Strength to plunder parable: Entering the Strong Man’s House
  • The power to forgive all sin!
  • The blasphemy of the Holy Spirit
3.  Jesus’ true family identified: verses 31-35
  • Jesus rejects the draw of his family.
  • Who are my mother and my brothers?
  • Those who will sit, circle with, and learn from Jesus are His family!
  • Whomever does the will of God!
So What?
  • Expect resistance from unexpected places! What false accusations are you facing in life? What relationships do you fear loosing?
  • Experience power from the only reliable source! Have you allowed him to forgive your sins? Are you living in Spiritual Power?
  • Extend your arms to those who will join you in the will of God! Who is in your life that you haven’t embraced? What obedience are you withholding that is disrupting your fellowship with others?
