Share Jesus Using the Power of the Gospel

Scripture Reading: Romans 1:13-16, Matthew 28:16-20, Acts 1:8

Picture
The power that enables a Christian to witness comes from God and not from us.
The power of the gospel is not:
  • Man’s Wisdom: 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, 1 Corinthians 2:13
  • Emotional Manipulation: Matthew 7:15, 24:4, 16:18
  • Materialistic Marketing: Acts 3:6
1.  Jesus’ Cross (gospel is power of God unto Salvation),  Romans 1:13-16
  • Aware, obligated, eager, unashamed!
  • Legal Declaration of Righteousness, Ransom Payment from sins’ bondage, Satisfactory Sacrifice for Sin’s guilt! Romans 3:24-25
2.  Jesus’ Command (Great Commission): Matthew 28:16-20
  • Respond to Authority: Worship and Obey
  • Make disciples: go, baptizing, teach
  • Receive help: Go to the end, Go with Jesus
3.  Jesus’ Constant Help (you will receive power from the Holy Spirit): Acts 1:8
  • You will receive power!
  • Power comes through the Holy Spirit!
  • Holy Spirit makes you a witness!
SO WHAT?
  • Depend on Him in sharing Him!
  • Develop an obedient heart that desires to share Jesus!
  • Declare the powerful message of the Cross of Jesus!

Scripture Reading:  Hebrews 13:17-25 (NIV)
17 Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account.  Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

18 Pray for us.  We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way. 19 I particularly urge you to pray so that I may be restored to you soon.

20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

22 Brothers and sisters, I urge you to bear with my word of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you quite briefly.  23 I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been released. If he arrives soon, I will come with him to see you.  24 Greet all your leaders and all the Lord’s people. Those from Italy send you their greetings.  25 Grace be with you all.

Scripture Reading:  Hebrews 13:9-16

Memory Verse:  Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe Hebrews 12:28
Picture
Outside the City Gates
1.  Personal strength comes through receiving grace daily for public ministry! Verses 9-10
  • Only priests can eat from the Tabernacle!
  • Only the saved can eat from the altar of the Cross!
2.  Public sacrifice of Jesus through crucifixion separates us and makes us holy for ministry! Verse 11-12
  • A Blood Sacrifice of animals was brought by the High priest into the holy place/Bodies are cast outside the camp! Verse 11
  • Jesus is likened to the sacrificial lamb! Verse 12
           1)  Crucified outside the city!
           2)  Sanctify the people through his blood!
           3)  The difference! Jesus gave unholy people access to God in holiness and transformed the unclean place outside the camp                  into a place of righteousness for God’s people!
                                              Ephesian 2:16, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, 1 Peter 3:14-18

3.  Public ministry for Jesus means, simply loving Him enough to: verse 13-16
  • Identify with Him: Leave behind one city for another, Draw close to Jesus
  • Suffer with Him: Bear reproach (Carry His Cross)
  • Evangelize with Him:
           1)  Sacrifice of Praise: Continually praising Jesus with our words
           2)  Pleasing Sacrifice: Doing good deeds, sharing

SO WHAT?
  • Are you bowing at the altar of Jesus’ cross every day in prayer and adoration to receive strength to minister publicly? Be strengthened!!
  • Are you living a life of holiness with Jesus as your Lord and the Bible as your guide? Be different!!
  • Will you identify with Jesus, suffer with Him, and evangelize with Him? Be known!!!
  • Will you leave the Camp and Go Public? Be bold!!!
