Wives Submit
Husbands Love and serve as Jesus does His church
and do not be harsh
Be a Leader, don’t defer to others
Set the moral and spiritual direction of the home.

2. Walk Close to the Lord! Colossians 17, 23-24, Ephesians 6:10

Eph 6:10 NIV - Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
All your heart,
For, or to the Lord, you are serving Him!

3. Work toward your Child’s Maturity!

Care for the whole child not just food, shelter, clothing.
Don’t abuse authority to bring unnecessary conflict into the home.
Training: Paidea, training of a child, including discipline and conviction, in order to regulate character. Duke of Windsor, “Everything in the American Home is controlled by switches, except the children.”
Instruction: nouthesia, “the process of putting correct principles of faith into a child’s mind using verbal encouragement, warning, or rebuke”.

a. God’s word is the primary source
b. Also sound principles of life and work are included
4. What should children do?

Take it!
Obey, for it is right!
Honor, for it will bless you back!
Honor, pleases the Lord
In the Lord! God as far as it honors God!

3. Joseph was A Man of Faith: Hebrews 11:22

He believed God’s covenant and lived by it
He believed God’s covenant enough to die in it
He believed God’s covenant was enough to include him even in his death

4. Moses Leaves Egypt: Exodus 13:18-19

Moses remembered the oath the Israelites had sworn to Joseph!
Moses took the bones of Joseph with them even though it required extra work!

5. Joshua buried the bones of Joseph!

The covenant faith of Joseph was a constant source of respect and encouragement to others!
We should live in a way that respects the spiritual legacy we inherit and also passes a great legacy on to those who come after us!
We should actively seek to inherit or “take possession of” our spiritual inheritance!
We should bury the bones of the past when it is time. There is a time to bury even important things! Appropriateness is the key thought!
