Scripture Reading: Hebrews 3:7-19
See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. Heb. 3:12-14

Scripture Reading:: Hebrews 3:1-6

But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. Heb. 3:6

But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. Heb. 3:6

1. The church exists because of Jesus’ Ministry? Verse 1, 6b
a. Holy brothers and sisters
b. Partners in a Heavenly Invitation
c. Confessors of Jesus: Apostle and High Priest
d. We are His house!

2. Jesus is the head of the church because of His ministry? Verses 2-6a
a. Faithful
b. Worthy of Greater Honor than Moses
c. Son over God’s house, not a servant
d. Builder is greater than the house that He builds.

3. What should the Church do for Jesus? Verses 1, 3, 6
a. Fix your thoughts!
b. Honor Jesus above all else!
c. Go to the end!
i. Holding securely our confidence
ii. Glorying in Hope

Conclusion:

“The Perfect Help for Humanity”

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 2:5-18

Memory Verse:
In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists,should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. Hebrews 2:10

Perfect “Son of Man”: verses 5-9

All things are subject to mankind! Psalm 8:4-6
Theological but not experiential truth!
Son of Man:
The purpose of mankind is fulfilled in Jesus.

Perfect Pioneer for Men: verses 9-11

Pioneer in death! Tasted death for everyone!
Pioneer in suffering!
Pioneer of salvation!
Pioneer of holiness!

Perfect Son of God: verse 11b-13

Initiates the Family of Faith:
Jesus is the elder brother to all Christian men and women
All Christians are brothers and sisters to one another.
Jesus rejoices in the family he has made!

Perfect Victor over the Devil and Death: verses 14-16

Jesus became like us to destroy the Devil’s power over us.
Jesus liberates us from slavery to the fear of death by His victory for us!
We need the help!

Perfect High Priest to make atonement: verses 17-18

He is like us:

Suffered like us
Tempted like us

He is our High Priest!

Merciful
Faithful
In service to God

Atone for our sins

SO WHAT?

Take your sins to Jesus and ask forgiveness
Take your fear to Jesus and receive courage
Take your lost-ness to Jesus and find the way of salvation
Take your weakness to Jesus and become strong
Take your loneliness to Jesus and find your family

Dangerous Drifting

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 2:1-4
We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. Hebrews 2:1

1. Pay attention to what you have heard from Jesus! Verse 1
A. Because he is superior, dedication to His word is vital!
B. Give attention to Jesus’ word: “bring it near”
C. Don’t let it slip by: “catch hold before it is too late”

2. Disregard for the message brings danger! Verses 2-3a
A. Jesus’ message is more binding than the authoritative message of angels.
B. Disregard = disobedience!C.Disobedience brings just reward!
1) Disregard for the message of salvation = eternally lost in torment,
2) Disregard for the message of sanctification = eternal loss of intended reward, 1Cr 3:14-15
a) Transgression of the Law
b) Refusal to “hear” God’s word

3. God gives us spiritual anchors: verses 3b-4
A. Personal faith in the salvation message of Jesus! Hebrews 6:18-19
B. Personal relationship and familiarity with other believer’s testimonies!
C. Powerful validating testimony of God: signs, wonders, works of power!
D. Personal manifestation of the Holy Spirit distributed according to God’s will!

SO WHAT?

Be saved today while you still can!
Be careful to hear and apply all of God’s word you can, as many times you can, as many ways as you can!
Be willing to share your testimony and hear the testimony of other believers!
