“Life with Christ”

Sripture Reading: Romans 6:1-14
Memory verse: “and a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17, NIV

1. Realize that the lie of licentiousness prevents life with Christ. Verses 1-2

God forbids this perversion as a path to greater grace: verse 2
It is an impossible path because one is unable to be dead to sin and live in sin simultaneously. Verse

2. Understand your Baptism symbolizes your union with Christ. Verses 3-5

Were you baptized into Jesus?
Then you were baptized into his death:
You were buried with Jesus to be like Him, raised up/aroused/caused to rise from the dead by the glory of the Father: New life is God’s work not your work.
You should be walking in newness of life!!! Verse 4
Planted to rise up/spring forth!!!! Verse 5

3. Experience freedom from death and sin due to your life with Christ! Verses 6-7

Old man has been crucified with Christ.
Body of sin might be destroyed
We should continually refuse to serve as slaves under sin.
Dead men are set free/declared free from ongoing sins.

4. Believe, Perceive, and Reckon yourself to be with Christ. Verses 8-11

Those who have died with Christ will live with Christ.
Christ died once to sin

5. Yield to Jesus’ Lordship over your body. Verses 12-14

Do not obey the lust of sin in your body.
Do not let your body be an instrument of unrighteousness.
Let God use your body as his righteous instrument.
You are under grace/favor/blessing not law.

Summary
