Sermon Scripture:  Psalm 130
Picture
SERMON OUTLINE:
I.     Repentant believers cry out to God in times of trouble. (v. 1-2)
II.    Believers know that there is forgiveness for sin. (v. 3-4)
III.   Believers wait patiently for the Lords' word. (v. 5-6)
IV.   God's people may expect complete redemption. (v. 7-8)
FAMILY DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
  1. When you are down or in trouble, is your first reflex to cry out to God, or to try and find another solution? Why?
  2. Explain this statement: "He who is forgiven much will love much, and he who is forgiven little will love little."
  3. Waiting on the Lord and hoping in his word are partly the same action. In what ways are you waiting on the Lord right now? In what ways can you hope in his word during these uncertain days?
  4. Pick a verse of Scripture which promises that God will forgive sin, and memorize it together as a family today.

  4. Are you seeking God's face right now? If not, what is preventing you?

Sermon Scripture:  Psalm 13
Picture
Six Reasons Christians Should Learn to Lament:
  1. It is a language for loss.
  2. It is the solution for silence.
  3. It is a category for complaints.
  4. It is a framework for feelings.
  5. It is a process for our pain.
  6. It is a way to worship.
Sermon Outline:
  1. David on his Face- An expression of Despair (v. 1-2)
  2. David on his Knees- An expression of Desire (v. 3-4)
  3. David on his Feet- An expression of Delight (v. 5-6)
Family Discussion Questions to help you form a prayer of lament:
  1. What pain are you suffering from right now that has made you feel as if God is absent? (Physical, emotional, disappointment, fear, etc.)
  2. How has your grief and disappointment led you to question God’s purposes? (Is he good? Does he care? Does he hear me?)
  3. What do you want God to do for you? What does God need to do IN you?
  4. How can you rejoice in God’s faithfulness to you? What can you praise God for that you may have forgotten about him? How will this help you trust him moving forward? (He loves you, he sent Christ to die for you, he hears you).
